A wonderfully warm and cozy hat perfect for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.
An overlocker can be used for most steps, but a regular sewing machine is all that is needed. It is suitable for enthusiastic beginners.
This pattern is named after the inspirational aviator, Amy Johnson. She was born in Yorkshire and was the first woman to fly solo from Britain to Australia. I consider both Yorkshire and Australia to be my home, and my maiden name was Johnson so I feel quite a connection with Amy.
Recommended Fabric:
Outer Fabric: Light to medium weight fabrics. A wide variety of fabrics can be used. Fabrics with a little weight to them work best such as corduroy, denim, felt and wool blends. I personally find fabrics with a small amount of stretch (eg stretch corduroy) easiest to sew, but the stretch is not vital.
Inner/Lining Fabric: : Medium/thick, soft, warm fabrics such as sherpa, faux fur, minky or fleece. There is also the option to use a thinner fabric for some parts of the lining. Quilting cotton or microfleece are good choices.
Pattern Format: This is a PDF pattern. Included in your download is an A4 file for at home printing, an A0 File for Copy Shop Printing, Projector files and detailed instruction files.
Notions:
- chin straps (optional)
-
small amount (less than 3cm) hook and loop (velcro)
