For the cool kids in your life, the Star Child Skinny Jeans pattern is ideal. A soft, elasticized waist, a modified faux fly, or a conventional button fly are all options. Back pockets and hip pockets can be added. Finally, there are instructions for adding fabric paint or reverse appliqué accents to your garment.
Given the tight fit of the pattern, woven fabric with a minimum of 30% stretch—better yet, 50%+—is required. To assist you in determining the stretch of your fabric, the pattern includes a stretch guide. Other mid-weight stretch wovens will also work well, but stretch denim is ideal. This pattern is not appropriate for knit fabrics. Children who wear undies are the target audience for this pattern. Children who wear undies are the target audience for this pattern. It is not appropriate for kids who use cloth or disposable diapers. I suggest the Twist & Shout jeans pattern if you're looking for something for nappy wearers.
Recommended Fabric: Medium weight woven fabric with minimum 30% stretch, 50+% is better. See page 8 to find out how to check the stretch of your fabric. Stretch denim is ideal but other stretch wovens will work well. Knit fabrics will not create the same look and are not recommended for this pattern.
